This campaign was created to increase awareness of a network of four local community forums in Market Harborough. The aim was to highlight the work the forums do and encourage greater engagement in both the forums and wider community activities.

Connect community action with location
Neighbourhood boundary map graphics and map pins ground the action within the local area.
Helping people feel connected to the group as it represents their own community, with local activities and action.
Bright & Engaging
Bright shades were added to the 2 base brand colours to stand out and draw attention, to encourage engagement from a wider demographic.
The brightness will help to 'stop the scroll' on social media.

Connecting with
storytelling
Showcasing community action by featuring local people in action, highlighting their involvement, and including quotes about why they are participating and what they hope to achieve.
Showcase the people behind the action, finding out what drives them to be involved. People really connect to the human story.

Campaign Aims
-
Increase awareness and visibility of the forums among local residents.
-
Reach a broader and more diverse demographic.
-
Highlight the work the forums do in the community.
-
Encourage participation in both the forums and their associated activities.
-
Provide the tools and skills needed for the group to continue running the campaign independently.
Approach
Human-Centred Messaging
Recognising the importance of real connection, I developed the campaign tagline: ‘Your community, your voice’ This message speaks directly to residents, encouraging them to feel heard and to take part in shaping their local area.
Design
The visual concept I created was rooted in geography and locality:
-
Graphic elements based on boundary lines and roads were used to reflect the division of the town into four distinct forum areas.
-
A map pin was included to clearly ground the action on the map, reinforcing the message that this is about their local community.
Relatable Representation
To create stronger emotional resonance:
-
The campaign showcased real forum members, representing people who the target audience could relate to, helping them see themselves reflected in the campaign.
-
I included imagery of the forums’ community work, allowing people to easily visualise getting involved.
-
Speech bubbles introduced storytelling, featuring real thoughts and future aspirations from forum members. These were developed in collaboration with the community to keep the tone authentic and local.
Colour Palette
The colour scheme was built around the forums’ two base colours, I then added bright shades to:
-
Catch attention on social media and stand out in public settings such as posters and leaflets.
-
Attract and appeal to a wider audience.
Sustainable Design Tools
To ensure the campaign could continue beyond the initial launch:
-
I created editable social media templates the group could update with new community action.
-
I delivered a social media training session, equipping the team with the knowledge and confidence to run the campaign independently into the future.
Outcome
The campaign successfully combined local identity, accessibility, and storytelling to increase awareness and engagement. The group was left with the skills and tools needed to sustain momentum. It was a pleasure to work alongside the community on such a meaningful project.
